Your America 2016: Using Technology to Mobilize Voters
Knowing that 2016 would be a crucial year for Hispanic, multicultural and millennial Americans to engage in U.S. politics, Univision and RSR created a campaign to help mobilize our audience in advance of the 2016 election.
Your America is a voter registration platform that provided the information and tools necessary for eligible voters to participate in our democracy. Determined to get all 27 million Hispanic Americans involved and informed, we implemented bilingual resources like the voting FAQ, polling location finders, text message reminders, sample ballots, candidate info, and social media content designed for followers to start important conversations and encourage their friends and families to register and vote.
As the primary designer on the Univision account, I worked closely with the team from ideation to design. The campaign garnered over 400,000 active users and resulted in 100,000 newly registered voters across the U.S. (as featured on The New York Times and The Atlantic). This project was particularly rewarding for me. I am grateful to have been a part of a team that applied our marketing and design know-how to mobilize communities and strengthen our democracy.
